Best Time to Visit Goa: Month-by-Month Guide
By the Tripzoy team · 4 min read
Short answer
November to February is the best time to visit Goa: dry, breezy and comfortable for beaches, shacks, water sports and sightseeing. It is also the busiest and most expensive period, especially around Christmas and New Year.
November to February: peak season
Days are sunny and evenings are cool. All beach shacks, clubs and water sports are running. Book hotels and flights early for the last week of December.
March to May: hot and quieter
It gets hot and humid, but rates drop. This is a fair choice for a budget trip if you plan beach time for mornings and evenings and keep the afternoons for the pool or indoor sightseeing.
June to September: monsoon
Heavy rain turns Goa green and prices fall sharply. Many shacks close and water sports are usually paused, but waterfalls like Dudhsagar are at their best, and it suits travellers who want a quiet, relaxed stay.
October: shoulder month
The rain eases and the season starts to open. Good value if you want better prices before the peak crowds arrive.
North or South Goa?
North Goa (Calangute, Baga, Anjuna) is livelier with markets, cafés and nightlife. South Goa (Palolem, Colva, Agonda) is calmer and better for families and couples who want quiet beaches.
