Best Time to Visit Andaman: Month-by-Month Guide
By the Tripzoy team · 4 min read
Short answer
October to May is the season, and November to April is the best window: calm seas, sunny days, smooth ferry rides and the clearest water for scuba diving and snorkelling. December and January are the busiest and most expensive months.
November to February: peak season
Pleasant temperatures, low humidity and calm water. Beaches on Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) and Neil (Shaheed Dweep) are at their best. Book ferries and resorts well ahead, especially around Christmas and New Year.
March to May: best for diving
It gets warmer, but the sea is usually at its calmest and underwater visibility is excellent, which makes this a favourite time for scuba. Summer holidays bring more families in May.
June to September: monsoon
Heavy rain and rough seas. Ferries can be delayed or cancelled, and water activities are often suspended. Prices are much lower, and it suits travellers who want quiet, green islands and don't mind changes to the plan.
October: the season opens
Rain eases through the month and activities restart. A good value month with fewer crowds, though some days can still be wet.
Island names to know
Port Blair is now officially Sri Vijaya Puram, Havelock is Swaraj Dweep, Neil is Shaheed Dweep and Ross Island is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep. Ferry tickets and signs may use either name.
