Short answer

A comfortable 4-night Goa trip for a couple costs roughly ₹35,000 to ₹60,000 for the two of you, plus flights, in the November–February season. A budget trip can come in under ₹25,000, and a premium resort stay can go well above ₹1,00,000. These are approximate figures: the month you travel changes them more than anything else.

Hotel: the biggest cost

A clean 3-star hotel near Calangute or Candolim costs roughly ₹2,500 to ₹4,500 a night in season. A good 4-star resort in South Goa is about ₹6,000 to ₹12,000 a night, and 5-star beach resorts start higher. Around Christmas and New Year, rates can double or triple, and many hotels ask for a minimum stay.

From June to September the same rooms are often 40 to 60 percent cheaper.

Getting there

Return flights to Goa (Dabolim or Mopa) from Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru usually cost about ₹6,000 to ₹15,000 per person when booked a few weeks ahead, and much more for late-December dates. Trains to Madgaon or Thivim are a cheaper option from Mumbai and the south.

Getting around

Airport to North or South Goa by taxi is roughly ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 each way. A rented scooter is about ₹300 to ₹600 a day (you need a licence and helmets). A cab for a full day of sightseeing costs around ₹2,500 to ₹3,500. Most packages include airport transfers and one or two days of sightseeing by cab.

Food and drinks

Beach shacks and local restaurants cost about ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 a day for two. Fine dining, beach clubs and cocktails can easily double that. Breakfast included at the hotel saves a little every day.

Activities

A water-sports combo at Calangute or Baga is roughly ₹1,500 to ₹3,000 per person. A Mandovi sunset cruise is around ₹500 to ₹1,500 per person depending on dinner and drinks. A Grande Island boat trip with snorkelling is about ₹1,500 to ₹2,500 per person. Churches, beaches and forts are free or cheap.

How to save

Travel in October, March or the monsoon; avoid the last ten days of December. Book a package with breakfast and airport transfers, which usually costs less than booking each part separately. Stay in one base rather than switching hotels, and take a full-day cab for sightseeing instead of several short rides.
